Fia Rosa
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rosa Fia on Friday March 13, 2020. She will be deeply missed and leaves to mourn her sons Paolo (Christine) and Roberto (Nicole); grandchildren Mateo, Eston, Alessio and Amare; sister Josephine; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosa was predeceased by her mother Lena; sister Antoinette; and brother Carlo.
Rosa was born in the small town of Villarosa on the island of Sicily, Italy. Rosa arrived in Canada on April 8, 1957. She worked as a seamstress in her early years but found her passion as a hairstylist where she enjoyed a long career helping her clientele look their best. Rosa was passionate about gardening where she spent many summer evenings tending to her tomato plants. This followed her other passion which was cooking. Her two boys now realize how spoiled they were eating authentic Italian dishes almost every night while growing up. Rosa loved her family and enjoyed extended family gatherings—especially at the cottage at Grand Marais. Rosa loved to travel and enjoyed a few visits back to her home country Italy with her two boys. In her later years Rosa loved wintering in Mexico with her closest friends and looked forward to the annual trip. She had many friends and enjoyed sharing the joys of life with them.
Thank you mom for inspiring us to be zestful for all that life offers. We will miss your humour, laughter and enthusiasm for living life to the fullest. The family wishes to thank the staff at Simkin Centre which mom considered her second family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
A private entombment at Assumption Cemetery will be held.
