AUDREY DARLENE MCCULLOCH
Early in the morning on July 23, 2019 Audrey Darlene McCulloch passed away peacefully at St Boniface Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
She was born August 16, 1946 to Len and Lena Church at the Tisdale Hospital. Her childhood was spent with her older siblings Laura and Bob in rural Saskatchewan; primarily in the small town of Bjorkdale the town her Grandfather, Alec Lalonde helped to build. She went to University in Saskatoon to become a teacher before getting married, moving to Winnipeg and having two stellar children, Jamie and Rob.
Mom lived life the way all of us should strive to. She worked hard during her teaching career while raising two absolutely brilliant children. She retired from teaching early to walk across Spain which started a new career of travelling to corners of the earth that most of us haven't heard of. She only curtailed the travelling with the birth of her grandchildren.
Having always said she would never be one of those grandparents who would show pictures to everyone and brag about how smart her grandchildren were; she proceeded to show everyone pictures of them and brag about how smart they are. To be fair Jack and Esther really are quite smart, not to mention very good looking.
The only thing that could slow Mom down was cancer but it took almost three years for it to get the better of her. She went to hospital on a Friday; she was working at Red River College on the Wednesday and lifting weights at the YMCA on the Thursday. Slowing down was really not in her vocabulary. If there is such a thing, Mom had a perfect death and lived her life to its fullest.
There will be a memorial in her honour between 2:00 - 4:00 pm on August 16, 2019 at the First Unitarian Church, located at 603 Wellington Crescent.
All who want are invited to attend the Goldeye's baseball game after the service. The Goldeyes have been nice enough to reserve part of a section (near the craft beer tent and the playground) for us. If you would like tickets, please contact Will, 204-956-3239 or Will@Goldeyes.com.
