MICHAEL NORBERT FRICKE
With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Michael Norbert Fricke on March 25, 2019.
Mike was born June 10, 1959 in Winnipeg, MB. He is predeceased by his father Ludwig. He is survived by his son Scott (Amanda); mother Anneliese; sister Barbara (Brad); nephews Aaron and Stephen as well as his close friends Jamie, JP, Dale and Rick.
Mike was a loving and caring father that was always there when needed. He was able offer advice with empathy and was always supportive of his son’s endeavours. Mike valued his time with his son and was looking forward to seeing his son get married.
Mike was an avid hockey and golf fan for his entire life. When Mike wasn’t able to play either game he would be found enjoying it on TV. His passion for recreational sports began as a young boy with childhood friends on the streets of St. Vital. After he stopped playing hockey, Mike was always looking forward to the snow melting so the golf courses could open up for the season. Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed and valued his time with his lifelong friends Jamie, JP and Dale.
Mike enjoyed the laid back cottage life style every summer where he enjoyed good times and good laughs with close friends.
At a young age his father taught him how to fish and Mike has continued to enjoy fishing whenever he could. Like his father, he taught his son to fish and enjoyed time spent fishing together.
In his early years, Mike attended Windsor School Grade 1-9 and Glenlawn Collegiate Grade 10-12. After high school he worked installing waterbeds and for a company installing alarm systems. He then decided to pursue a career in the electrical trade like his father. Over the years, his career as an electrician lead him to many different places to work around Canada.
A casual celebration of Mike's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road, (Unitarian Church).
